BHP
Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance
(BMA) is Australia’s largest
coal producer and is responsible for the
operation of seven mines located in the Bowen
Basin region of Central Queensland, Australia:
Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Daunia,
Peak Downs, Saraji, Crinum, Blackwater and
Caval Ridge.
In February 2015, Bradken delivered the first
of two new Enforcer all-purpose buckets to
the Company’s Saraji coal mine, expanding our
existing range of wholly Bradken designed and
manufactured dragline buckets with a model
specifically designed to suit harder digging
conditions.
Developed to meet the expectations of mine
site maintenance and production teams,
Bradken’s Enforcer all-purpose bucket provides
the performance and reliability required to
withstand long digging campaigns and can be
customised to suit mine site specific operating
conditions.
Working closely with the team at Saraji,
Bradken’s engineers tailored the Enforcer
design to suit the two Marion 8050 dragline
machines on site, addressing the customer’s
desire to reduce the number of bucket change
outs (through failure and/or wear) during a
campaign in the hard digging conditions on site,
to ultimately reduce maintenance downtime
and associated costs.
Assembled locally at Bradken’s manufacturing
facility in Mackay and fitted with its Penetrator
range of Ground Engaging Tools (GET), the first
bucket was commissioned in March 2015, with
the second bucket on site and due for commis-
sioning mid-year.
Along with the two Enforcer buckets, three
Velocity high production dragline buckets for
BMA’s Peak Downs mine round out the BMA
order. They are scheduled to go into service
progressively throughout 2015, with the first
installed during a planned maintenance day
in May.
In addition to this, in late 2014 Bradken also
secured a contract to supply Harmonise hoist
(upper and lower), dump and drag chains for
BMA’s entire dragline fleet throughout the
Bowen Basin.
Bradken’s ability to design, manufacture and
supply complete Dragline solutions, from
the rigging through to the bucket (including
complementary products and services such
as Harmonise, APT pins and our Riggematics
software) enables us to leverage the combined
benefits of a number of products on one ma-
chine to better meet customers’ production and
maintenance targets.
