Communication and
Consultation
Ensure all Bradken people
have ready access to HSE
information, so they have the
information they need to carry
out their work in a safe and
efficient manner, in full
knowledge of potential
hazards and risks and with
an understanding of effective
control measures.
It’s not enough just to train
employees in safe systems of
work. The Bradken Safety
System also requires workers
to participate effectively in the
risk management process.
To help this process we
have established two-way
communications systems, which
foster a consultative approach
to handling safety issues and
facilitate optimal reporting.

Management’s commitment to
Health, Safety & Environment
(HSE) considerations is very
strong. In addition to the overall
Xuzhou Safety Plan and Action
Schedule, specific OHS goals
and objectives have been
established for all relevant
departments and positions.
The commitment continues
in the form of comprehensive
communication, with notice
boards, toolbox meetings and
management meetings
providing recommendations
and guidelines for HSE
requirements. The Xuzhou
OHS policy is also displayed on
notice boards, in the reception
area and in induction training.
Xuzhou have a detailed safety
observation schedule to monitor
work behaviour to encourage
safe practices and we expect
our managers and supervisors
to act as good role models. They
review OHS performance every
six months and report results to
management meetings and
safety committee meetings.

Our Safety Communication
Meeting Schedule covers
toolbox meetings, pre-start
meetings, daily production
meetings and safety committee
meetings, giving plenty of
opportunity to communicate
and discuss any HSE issues.
Members of the Safety
Committee include staff from
all levels – management,
supervisors, leading hands and
floor workers. All minutes of
OHS meetings are displayed,
so all employees can get this
information, which can also
be accessed through our
document management system.
Xuzhou encourage consultation
about HSE issues. HSE topics
are included in toolbox meetings,
giving a good opportunity to
discuss and report potential
hazards and risks. As well,
employees can report their
HSE concerns to the employee
representatives on the
Safety Committee.
