Early success in Africa
The South African market has
already welcomed Bradken’s
Fixed Plant (formerly Wear Plate
and Block) division into its fold
with open arms.
In the past year, Regional
Sales Manager – Africa, Alec
Grobbelaar has been working
across the entire African mining
market, which covers a range of
resources including coal, iron
ore, diamonds, platinum and gold.
The first order received by the
South African office was from
a Zambian mine for 17-on-12
Duaplate
®
liners with studs.
The mine was so impressed
with the product and service,
it doubled its second order.
Kumba-Sishen Iron Ore Mine
has also placed a trial order for
skidblocks and 12-on-12
Duaplate Wear Strips.
General Manager Fixed Plant,
Craig Lee said orders like this
were a great way forward for the
new South African operation.
“Trials like these will really give
this customer and the whole
African market confidence in
the Bradken products.”
Other South African customers
include Anglo Platinum, Anglo
Coal, Goldfields, Minopex and
VRN Steel. Alec is currently
negotiating with Harmony
Gold Mines, Anglo Gold, BHP
Manganese and Assmang
Iron Ore.
Alec is also increasing
Bradken’s presence in the
market by attending monthly
mining exhibitions held in
mining areas throughout
Africa using exhibition products
developed for last year’s Mining
Expo in Johannesburg.
