The recent installation of a world class
heat treatment facility at Bradken’s
Scunthorpe foundry in the United
Kingdom has helped to elevate the profile
of the business as a fully-fledged provider
of Bradken’s range of Crawler Systems
and Mineral Processing consumable
products to the European market.
Over the last few years, strong global
market demand for Bradken consumable
products such as undercarriage
components and Mill and Crusher Liners,
and the anticipated continuation of this
demand for the immediate future, has
led to strong demand on the Company’s
Australian and North American foundries,
which are under pressure to maintain
the delivery schedules required by our
customers.
As a foundry with proven manufacturing
capabilities,
Bradken’s
Scunthorpe
foundry was identified as the ideal
candidate to provide manufacturing
support to meet the growing demand for
these products.
However the foundry was not initially
configured to support the diversity of
production necessary for the Crawler
Systems and Mineral Processing
products it was to take on. The foundry
did not have an in-house solution for
effective heat treatment and quenching,
and it was deemed to be impractical
to subcontract these operations on an
ongoing basis.
