operation
at Cadia, near Orange has been in continual development since
commissioning in 1998. The last twelve years have seen the mill
lining evolve with a range of innovative design changes that have
given rise to increased throughput rates, reduced relining times
and an increase in mill availability.
With the drive for continued improvement in product design and liner
performance, Bradken undertook a new design project to further
enhance the critical discharge end of the mill. Not willing to accept
the current performance levels, a review was undertaken with the
aim of designing and manufacturing a “SuperVortex” Discharge End.
The challenges were not only in producing a design to improve the
discharge of product from the large 40ft mill, but also the likely
difficulty in manufacturing the very large and complex parts.
