on one machine, the dump block can
be used across a number of machines
on a site, depending on the dump rope
size, with the change-out of just one
component.
The dump block is also compatible with
becketted ropes which can be easily
fed through the dump block reducing
maintenance downtime for dump ropes
change-outs. Thebearings in thecentreof
the dump block are subject to high wear,
performing up to 2,880 revolutions in a
single day (over one million revolutions
in a year). Bradken’s new dump block
design features larger bearings capable
of providing over three times the wear
life of competitors' bearings, resulting in
a further reduction of downtime required
for bearing change-out.
In integrating the Harmonise dump block

IN JUNE 2014,
Bradken secured a
contract with mine operator Downer EDI
to supply a Class 2 Harmonise upper
hoist rigging package for a Bucyrus
1370W dragline machine at the Meandu
coal mine in Queensland, Australia. This
package was the first to include a new
stronger, lighter dump block.
The dump block utilises the same
‘ground up’ design process used to
develop the other products that make up
the Harmonise rigging package and as
such the package as a whole provides a
host of benefits not only to the customer,
but to Bradken as well.
Customers benefit from the dump
block’s compatibility with both Bradken
and OEM rigging packages (without the
need for modification) with the inclusion
of an innovative connection point that
can be rotated to either a horizontal or
vertical position.  This flexibility ensures
