Bradken serves its power generation customers through a wide range of complex large steel castings as well as patterns, tooling and machining services. We work with hydro-electric, coal-fired and nuclear power generators.

Our foundries have the capability to provide a comprehensive range of castings, cast/fabrications and machining for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). In addition to our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) facilities and Level III Certified inspectors for MPE, LPE UE and RE we have a fully staffed Linatron facility in our Tacoma, Washington, USA facility. We are committed to the use of science, technology and craftsmanship to satisfy our customers’ needs.

Our foundry and manufacturing site in Tacoma, Washington is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality, large, mission critical, complex engineered castings for nuclear energy generation.

 It is one of only a few foundries in North America qualified to make castings for nuclear applications (ASME certified since 1974).

Our sophisticated manufacturing process, extensive experience with heavy section, high specification steel castings and our focus on customer satisfaction means we can create and deliver solutions for our customers’ most demanding casting and machining requirements.

Hydro electric power generation

Bradken provides high integrity castings for durable performance in hydroelectric power generators.  Our foundries are experienced in the manufacture of precision castings including austenitic, duplex, and martensitic stainless steel. 

Our London, Ontario Canada foundry and machine shop has a dedicated 7-axis machining centre with a WFL-M150 for single set-up machining of wicket gates, turbine shafts, and associated components. We have extensive experience producing hydro turbines, pouring and machining CA6NM.

Coal fired power generation products

Bradken is a major supplier of grinding elements, mill liners and wear protection products used in coal fired power generation around the globe.

With the understanding that power stations have unique conditions, we work with customers to customize wear elements to achieve optimum performance and part life, even in high ash environments.

We are the suppler of choice for grinding components, thanks to our high chrome white iron alloys which we developed over decades. They are designed to excel in a range of demanding pulverising applications. 

Our product range covers tyres and segments for vertical spindle mills, precision machined balls and rings for Babcock E-Type Mills, and liners for ball mills. 

We also make components for high temperature applications including burners and boiler parts in a range of alloy irons and steels.

  • From engineered concept to finished product Bradken provides value for our
    customers in the Energy market by making high engineered, complex sand molded steel castings, in a range of cast steels.  Our capabilities include supplying castings as large as 55,000 lbs (25,000 kg).
