Arun Prakash Gandhiraman, Capital Projects Specialist, Coimbatore

From Curious Beginnings to Global Impact

What makes a great engineer? Is it technical expertise, a drive for innovation or the ability to see solutions where others see problems? For Arun, our Capital Projects Specialist based in Coimbatore, India, it’s all of that - and more. An Electrical and Electronics Engineer, his career path was inspired by his father, an electrician, who instilled a passion for hands-on work and a curiosity for how things function.

A dedicated problem-solver, Arun brings passion and commitment to every project he works on. Whether developing new solutions or providing support to team members around the world, he is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes to help achieve Bradken’s strategic goals. Tell us about your role at Bradken: For the past one and a half years I’ve held the role of Capital Projects Specialist, working as part of Bradken’s Asset Management team that oversees the lifecycle of machinery and equipment assets on our manufacturing sites. As part of that team my job is to create and manage systems that support the delivery of capital projects - I focus on streamlining processes, coordinating with cross-functional teams and implementing solutions that help things run smoothly, efficiently and achieve the best possible results for Bradken.
What do you enjoy most about what you do? What I like most about working at Bradken in general is the strong work-life balance, the trust and collaboration among team members and the professional growth opportunities available. Bradken fosters a supportive and motivating work environment, which makes me feel valued and appreciated in my role.
What I enjoy most about my current role is the opportunity to network with teams across different countries and cultures. The exposure to various work styles and diverse perspectives allows me to think outside the box and approach challenges from a broader, more holistic viewpoint. For me, it’s not just about the technical aspects of the job, it’s as much about the human connections and collaboration that makes a project successful.
How do you think your colleagues would describe you? I like to think my colleagues consider me approachable and reliable – someone who’s always ready and willing to help them. I strive to be a resource for my team, offering support whenever it’s needed, whether it’s professional or personal. I take pride in being someone my coworkers can rely on, and I’m always looking for ways to make their work easier.
Outside of work, what are the interests and hobbies that help you unwind and recharge? I have a wide range of hobbies that keep me engaged and relaxed. I enjoy working out to stay fit and healthy and I’m also a big fan of cricket and movies, especially science fiction. I love cooking and creating memes for fun (my colleagues think I could have a second career as a content creator!), and whenever I get the chance, I love to travel and explore new places.
Aside from that, I value the simple pleasures in life like long drives, good food, a restful night’s sleep and time spent with my wife, young son and extended family who are a constant source of strength and encouragement.

A passion for Education and Community

Born in the small town of Tirupur, a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, and completing his schooling in nearby Erode, Arun pursued his college education in the vibrant city of Coimbatore, where he now lives and works.

His academic achievements, particularly in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, laid a strong foundation for his career and he remains connected to his roots by giving back to the academic community, helping frame the syllabus at his undergraduate college, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, and delivering guest lectures to share his industry experience with aspiring engineers. His dedication to education reflects not only his passion for learning but also his desire to support and guide the next generation of engineers, a goal that aligns with Bradken’s own commitment to supporting STEM education programs, particularly for young women.

What advice would you offer others looking to join the Bradken team? If you’re looking for a workplace that values collaboration, encourages innovation and provides opportunities for personal and professional growth, then Bradken is the right place for you. Embrace the learning culture and be open to new challenges, Bradken will recognise your contributions and help you succeed.
How does Bradken recognised your own contributions? I feel really honoured to have been nominated several times in Bradken’s ‘Best of Bradken’ employee awards over the past few years for different projects I’ve worked on, especially in categories marking achievement in the areas of safety, sustainability, and tackling challenges. Being recognised as Highly Commended in the last three award rounds has meant a lot to me. It’s a great reminder that my work is noticed and appreciated, and it keeps me motivated to continue giving my best every day.
What are your future career goals? When I consider the future my goals are centered around continuing to innovate and find better ways to contribute to Bradken’s success. Bradken supports me by offering ongoing learning opportunities and professional development programs.
