Bradken announces environmental target of carbon neutrality for scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.
According to Chief Executive Officer, Sean Winstone, not only does it make good business sense, but it’s the right thing to do.
“At Bradken, we recognise that sustainability is critical to the future success and longevity of our business”, said Sean.
“We realise the value in reducing our environmental footprint and helping our customers do the same. We have a shared commitment to preserve and protect our environment, not only for the current generation but for future generations to come.”
Due to the nature of our foundry and fabrications operations, it is not possible to completely avoid fuel or electricity consumption. We will be looking to use a combination of energy efficiency improvements, emissions reductions projects, renewable energy purchases, and most likely, the purchase of carbon offsets to negate unavoidable emissions.
We already have some important energy reduction initiatives underway, including the use of renewable energy at our flagship facility in Quebec, Canada where 100% of the electricity generated is by hydroelectricity.
Bradken and the Sustainable Development Goals
We recognise the importance of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help address the global environmental and social issues facing our society.
Bradken is committed to the continued adoption of the principles of the SDGs and is proud, through our announcement today, to be playing our role in the decarbonisation of society and tackling climate change.
