Quicker lead times on the way for North American mining customers needing Fixed Plant wear solutions
Bradken’s North American customers will benefit from shorter lead times on Fixed Plant mining wear solutions with an upgrade to the company's manufacturing site in Edmonton, Canada.
Due to begin next month, the project will add equipment needed for in-house processing of Duaplate, Duablock, and Vulcabrix wear liner plates.
Jesse Smale, Business Development Manager – Fixed Plant Canada for Bradken, said the investment was a key step in meeting customers’ needs through significantly reduced lead times for custom liner packages for wear walls and chutes for customers in the North American mining market.
“Our customers are open about the operational challenges they face and the importance they place on suppliers, like Bradken, being able to respond swiftly to their needs,” Mr. Smale said.
“Bradken Edmonton has been a premier manufacturer of Chromium Carbide Overlayed piping for customers in the Alberta Oilsands for decades. This remains a key focus, however, we’re leveraging this opportunity to bring our fabrication experience and reputation for quality to customers in the broader Fixed Plant wear solution market in North America.
“By optimizing the production space available at Edmonton we’ll add new processing equipment like a plasma cutter, waterjet machine and ceramic saw to support Duablock (chrome white iron), Duaplate (chromium carbide) and Vulcabrix (ceramic) liner plates fabrication.
“In-region fabrication will streamline order processing, meaning customers will get their product much faster.
“We’re committed to partnering with our customers wherever they are in the world, and certainly for North America, this investment is an important step in making sure we can get them what they need, when they need it.”
Work on the project is expected to be complete by the end of November 2024.
